Our pilot, Assad Júnior, picked us up in his beat-up Volkswagen with the asa delta (hang-glider) rack.( Which is now a white Kaiser Jeep ) The climb up to the take-off point was awesome...The road winds up through the lush green Tijuca forest...We were waved on through the private entrance to the hang-gliding area and the engine whined as we climbed the extremely steep hill.
